not March 4.
THE NUMBERING SYSTEMS
The number at the start of the line indicates the order of descent from
the initial couple, ID 0, generation 0-. The children of person ID 3 say, are given ID numbers 31,32,33,... & generation number 2. The generation numbers are useful when searching for parents, sibs & children, as these can be some distance from them on this page. Example: at 1. WOODLAND of Deal,
163 3-Randall George WOODLAND 1839 Deal
is the 3rd child of the 6th child of the 1st child of 0 0-Henry WOODLAND.
3- tells us he is 3rd generation. So an up search on 2- will give his parents, & a down search on 4- will give his children if any.
NAVIGATING THIS FILE Control-f opens a window lower left where you can enter a keyword like your ancestor’s name or ID from SUMMARY. Next to it are up and down arrows for the next occurrences of the keyword. Turn off Whole Words to right. Choosing kit as a keyword and a few uparrows will take you to the start of the file. Choosing summary will take you to the SUMMARY. Control-end will take you to the end. (Searches are not case-sensitive.)

DETAILS
0 0-Henry WOODLAND "sojourner belonging to the Prince George" (ex St. Leonard's
Parish Register for 1757). It may mean a lowly position in the Prince George's
household or guard, perhaps just when the Prince was in the Kent area. This was
King George 3 before he was king.-JH. Or it may mean that Henry was in the
Royal Navy as there were vessels at various dates named "Prince George".
As Deal is on the coast, this would make sense. The term
sojourner implies only a short stay in the parish.-Chris TOWNSEND.
"Prince George" was built at Woolwich DY in 1682 as Duke (a 2nd
Rate, 163 x 45 ft). She carried 26 34-pdrs, 26 18-pdrs, 26 6-pdrs,
and 12 3-pdrs. Renamed Prince George in 1701. She fell victim to a
fire in 1758.-`Ships of the Royal Navy' by COLLEDGE via reply to EZboard query.

+ Re this big gap in records for St Leonard's, Deal
ex Charles.Fuller@btinternet.com to KENT-ENG-L@rootsweb.com
The 'Handlist of Parish Registers and Transcripts' issued by the Kent Record
Offices lists the following entries for Deal St. Leonard held at the
Canterbury Record Office:
C: 1559-1956 )
M: 1559-1961 ) Reference U3/95
B: 1559-1954 )
Bishop's Transcripts 1:
CMB: 1564-1812 Reference DCb/BT1/72
Bishop's Transcripts 2:
C: 1813-1910 )
M: 1813-1837 ) Reference DCb/BT2/85
B: 1813-1903 )
Maidstone also holds indexed transcripts for the period 1559-1837.
Normally, the book shows when there is a significant gap in the records, so
this seems to imply that the period you're interested in is covered. It is,
of course, a completely different question as to how legible the microfilm
might be.
+ Re this BIG GAP: pamcook@inet.net.nz 2002
There is frequently a gap in the records for the period of the Commonwealth/
Civil War. The Bishop's Transcripts completely stop for the period
1640-1660, but some (not a lot) of parish registers may have entries for
all or part of the period.
