6. INBREEDING
The total number of possible ancestors for generation n is 2^n.
For n=33 this is over 8 billion, more than the population of the planet.
Clearly the pool of possible ancestors for generation n is less than 2^n for
n large.
Let us define the INBREEDING COEFFICIENT for generation i as 1-n/total
where total =2^i is the total number of possible ancestors for generation i
and n is the number of this generation of ancestors who appear only once.
So the inbreeding coefficient is 1 if each ancestor occurs more than once
and is 0 if none appear more than once.
THEOREM The inbreeding coefficient cannot decrease as the number of
generations increase.
In our case prior to generation 8, the inbreeding coefficient equals 0.
At generation 8 with the 1st cuz m of DERRICK-RUSSELL, it equals
2/2^8=2/256 = .8%.
At generation 10 with the 1st cuz m of WITHERS-TARRANT, it equals
(2+4x2)/1024 = 1%.
CHECK what happens if the 2 SMITH ancestors are related.

Stay at Taunton to visit
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taunton_Castle the original started for King Ine
of Wessex and Æthelburg 710. In 1216, Bishop Peter des Roches, a supporter of
King John, defended the castle during a barons' revolt. In the Great Hall 1685,
Judge JEFFREYS held the Bloody Assizes following the Monmouth Rebellion.
144 were hanged and their remains displayed around the county to ensure people
understood the fate of those who rebelled against the king. The great hall and
inner ward of the original castle make up the Museum of Somerset. etc
